We had the chance for the first time to interview Singapore Radio Personality Glenn Ong. Ever opinionated and feisty, Glenn did not pull back any punches in his feature interview with us. Here’s what he had to share with us.

Glenn Ong

1. As a radio veteran with more than 2 decades of radio experience, how has radio evolved?

Glenn Ong: Radio has evolved, and is constantly evolving, especially on ONE FM91.3, we’re now playing more music from the 80s and 90s. Make the switch and hear the difference, especially my #1 breakfast show with The Flying Dutchman. The show has evolved unbelievably from when we were #1 for 13 years. Which means it is now much better than before! Tune in. You be the judge! Let’s make radio great again.

2. What do you think of the state of the current music landscape in Singapore?

Glenn Ong: Local artistes I feel are better stage performers than studio recording artistes and that’s why they do so well singing in pubs and clubs.

3. Not a trick question, but do you listen more to radio or music streaming services in your downtime?

Glenn Ong: I have my radio on all day. And if I want my fave songs played, I just simply request for them through my music director! (Just kidding about the request)

4. Off work, what kind of music do you listen to?

Glenn Ong: I listen to Oasis, Amy Winehouse, Led Zeppelin and Miles Davis just to name a few.

5. You have been teaming up with The Flying Dutchman at One FM 91.3. So what’s changed since the time you two paired up at the “other radio station”?

Glenn Ong: We have a more complete show with a team of 2 producers who are also co-presenters. Something the “other radio station” simply could not afford. I believe we have discerning savvy listeners who know the hours we put into prepping for our show everyday just so we can deliver the best and most interesting content and work towards making radio great again. I feel the other radio station’s breakfast show is idiotic. To be associated with that show is equivalent to listening to dumb and dumber on the radio. So please let me make this clear. Glenn and The Flying Dutchman, the greatest radio DJs of all time, are going to make radio great again. Just tune in to ONE FM91.3 weekday mornings! And don’t ever say you listen to ‘dumb and dumber’ because that means you simply have NO CLASS!
