Hailing from down-under, Kyls Burtland is an Australian producer, creator and musical composer. With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, Burtland’s a highly awarded composer and the first person to win ‘Australian Songwriter of the Year’ twice.

She has even performed with musical legends Bob Dylan and The Beastie Boys.

We sat down with the ever-so passionate Kyls Burtland as she shares with her thoughts on her latest nomination and the future of her musical career.

1. What is your inspiration for the nominated song? (Destination Flavour Scandinavia)

I was trying to capture the pristine beauty of the Norwegian ‘Fjords’ somehow in this theme.  I chose a wall of cellos and violins to suggest the grandeur of the mountains, and tinkly bells layered on top to suggest the sparkle of snow falling.

The theme also hopefully captures the elegance of our celebrity chef host, Adam Liaw, a Singaporean-Australian who won ‘Master Chef’ here in Australia, and is much loved by Australians for his gentleness and brilliant food.

2. How do you feel about your nomination for ‘Best Theme Song’ on Asian Television Awards? What does the nomination mean to you?

I am over the moon!  Its a huge honour to be recognised by the Asian TV Industry.

3. How do you feel about your chances of winning?

My fingers are crossed, but I also know how excellent all the finalists are.  And I’m grateful to be in such good company!
