The annual Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) Awards returned for the 19th year once again in recognition of achievements by Singapore songwriters.

Eleven categories of regular awards were presented to the Top Earning Songwriters in Singapore in the various music genre, and three special awards categories were awarded to individuals and a collective group for their achievements and contributions to the local music industry.

The programme highlighted at the Resorts World Convention Centre saw the exclusive performances of Jeremy Monteiro with Alberto Marsico and The Jazz-Blues Brothers, Rani Singam, Gentle Bones, Sleeq, Corinne May and Jimmy Ye.
JJ Lin’s name need no more introduction to the world of pop music. The multiple award winner led the evening by bagging two awards for Top Local Songwriter of The Year and Top Local Artiste of The Year.
Apart from wowing the audience with their catchy Untuk Dia along with their new English release Tuck You In, Sleeq, the cousin duo took home The Wings of Exellence Award. Untuk Dia, composed by Alif Abdullah, also won the Top Local Malay Pop Song which is annually awarded to the highest royalty earning local Malay composition in the pop music genre. The popularity of the song also won Abdullah the Young Songwriter of the Year.
Corinne May, the multiple COMPASS award winner, is no stranger to the local scene. Her many accolades are a source of inspiration to many young artists in the local as well as international arena. She went on to receive the Top Local English Pop Song Award before performing Beautiful Life on the same podium.
Wings of Excellence Award winner – Sleeq. The award was given to the duo for internationally achieving an outstanding performance.
The Meritorious Awards were given to Jimmy Ye and Albert Louis for their significant contributions and impact on the development of the local music industry in Singapore.
Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Mr Sam Tan were amongst the Guest-of-Honour who attended the event.
