APM 2014 created a lot of buzz online when the hashtag #APM2014 trended number one worldwide on Twitter during the award show last Friday. Supported by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) and Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI), the star-studded show was broadcasted ‘LIVE’ in High Definition (HD) in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam – on TV channels Suria, Astro Ria, and NET., radio stations Warna 94.2FM and Ria 89.7FM as well as online streaming platforms, MediaCorp’s Toggle LIVE and Toggle Catch-Up, Astro on the Go and NET. LIVE TV.

Performance highlight included Aisyah Aziz, Cakra Khan, Hazama, Judika, Maria Calista, Joe Flizzow, Mafarikha and Najwa Mahiaddin, NOAH, Taufik Batisah and many more with special appearances from Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, Dato’ Rossa and WINGS.

Flying high this year is rock band WINGS from Malaysia who received top honours through Planet Music Special Award. Formed in 1985, the legendary WINGS ended the night on a high note with their medley hits at the sold-out event organised by MediaCorp’s Malay Broadcast Division, Suria, Warna 94.2FM and Ria 89.7FM.

Joining Indonesia’s Sarah Sechan as co-host this year were radio personality from Singapore, Dyn Norahim and comedian from Malaysia, Nabil Ahmad. The co-host provided the show with the wittiest humour whilst retaining a cheerful atmosphere, leading audiences throughout an evening of music, song and dance.

Receiving the most number of awards throughout the history of APM is Asian diva, Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, who won Best Artiste (Female) and Best Song (Malaysia). She received a total of 26 awards throughout the 13 installments of APM. Other notable winners include NOAH who won Best Band for two consecutive years and APM Most Popular Artiste. They went on to drive the crowd crazy with a beautifully choreographed song, Hidup Untukmu Mati Tanpamu.

Taufik Batisah, Singapore’s idol bagged the Social Media Icon award, the Most Popular Artiste (Singapore) award and the Most Popular Song (Singapore) award. Newcomers Sufie Rashid and Aisyah Aziz also won their first award in APM, Best Song (Singapore) and Best Collaboration (Song) respectively. Malaysia’s Fynn Jamal and Indonesia’s Fatin Shidqia Lubis also received their first recognition in APM this year.
